I consulted more than ten doctors but no one could find a cure and remedy for my front knee join pain and irritation. I have had pain for the last eight years. The only time I feel pain is when I bend my knee.

Background: When I was in 8th grade of school, I had to study for a long time with bent knees for exams. At that time I felt pain and irritation in my knee joint. After I felt slight irritation in my knee. I didn’t stop bending my knee and I ignored the slight pain and irritation. That pain and irritation increased day by day and now it has been eight years but I still suffer from pain and irritation in my front knee joint when I bend it even for a minute.

I don’t know what to do because when I consult a doctor he or she gives me medication but that don’t work for me. Now I am in India for treatment. But some doctors told me about your site. I hope you will help me in solving my long term problem. Regards. Adel

Hi Adel. I'm sorry to hear you have been suffering from knee pain for so long. The first step is to work out what is causing the front knee pain. From what you describe, it sounds like there may be some cartilage irritation which is contributing to your chronic pain.

I suggest you start by doing knee strengthening exercises. Improving the strength and support at the knee helps to reduce the force going through the joint and cartilage. You need to do the exercises at least 5 times a week and you should start to notice an improvement within a month.

Also, think about the position that you it in. Try sitting with your knee at a slightly different angle to what you have been doing, and every 15 minutes or so, gently bend and straighten the knee. Regularly moving the joint helps to keep it well lubricated and should stop it being painful when you then get up. I hope things settle down soon. Chloe
